the new template is done
For our template "layers" we decided to implement both the archive and the comments functionality.
Therefore a user has to be aware of edititing the code of his template. Of course you can use the template without the comments-button and functionality, but we wanted to support and empower the user and give him the freedom to use this functionality in a simple and well-prepared way.
We also used some images for the background design. This simplifies both the editing of the colour scheme (for individual changes) and the code for the table.
We believe that this template is -even without any personalisations- not only of a high aesthetic quality; we tried to make the problem of "permalinks" understandable. The arrow points directly to the archive area - the place where the user is beeing directed after clicking on the "arrow". Instead of the term "archives" we used the terms new/old with a visual encoding of colour and layer.

As the museum of modern art confronts the reality of works produced in digital media, it must meet yet another challenge to the integrity and logic of its method of presenting art. Throughout the past century, the museum's traditional role as the framer of single and valuable objects has been challenged by artists who embrace technologies of mass reproduction, who appropriate everyday objects, or who create ephemeral work. Consequently, the institution has had to continually find new means of maintaining its control, value, and identity. If we accept the idea that a museum is an institution that enhances and, some might even say, creates art by framing objects and images, then the museum must respond to the installation, performance, and digital artists who demand new ways of framing their work.
